A description
of our château
The entry hall features typical Burgundy ceramic tiles and provides access to three large living rooms and a small room where children can play and enjoy themselves. These areas provide a lovely place to relax with family and friends.
The Orangery, our dining area that can seat up to 42 people with an open fireplace and fully equipped semi-professional kitchen, is an ideal place for you to wine and dine.
The first and second floors are dedicated to a good night's rest. In total there are 12 spacious, light and airy bedrooms between the two floors. Some bedrooms can accommodate up to four guests.
In keeping with the history of the Château, all bathroom facilities are located in the north tower and there is one large bathroom on each floor. Each bathroom facility has three enclosed showers with its bathroom furniture. Three separate toilets and two extra washbasins complete our washrooms.

A majestic
garden
The Château overlooks its ten-acre estate with beautiful views over our garden, rolling hills and surrounding farmlands. This landscape offers the ideal setting to organise your wedding ceremony or to enjoy a cocktail party under our 100-year-old trees. Our two terraces offer a peaceful haven to enjoy summer barbeques and garden parties.
The Orangery, the green gardens and the courtyard in front of the château will offer a stunning backdrop to any event you would like to organise.
The park provides plenty of outdoor space and privacy, complete with our heated outdoor swimming pool and tennis court. You can also throw a line in our fishing pond or organise a game of “pétanque”. The younger ones will certainly enjoy our playground and garden games.
Our natural and peaceful setting will be ideal to host your team building sessions.
But above all, don’t forget to soak up some sun in our loungers and enjoy the beautiful views in the gardens with a nice glass of Chardonnay or Pinot Noir.
The château's
history
Château de Frétoy is an imposing 19th century château that majestically dominates a ten-acre park. It was built in 1900 for Cécile Sorel, a famous French actress. She owned it from 1903 to 1933 after which it became the property of the Clair Sisters’ family.
After the outbreak of the Second World War, the Clair family donated the château to the French Red Cross where wounded soldiers were treated. Even today, certain maps still mark the location of the château with a red cross.
In 1963 the château was reconverted by the Red Cross into a sanctuary and school for children suffering from tuberculoses. Boys between the age of 6 and 16 were treated on the domain during 18 months. In the following years the chateau became an orphanage on behalf of the city of Paris and welcomed childen in difficulty.
In 1981 the chateau was put up for sale again and was bought by the association "VIE ACTIVE LOISIRS" situated in the North of France. They transferred the domain into a holiday home for mentally handicapped children.
In 2000, the château again was offered for sale and this time it was purchased by a Dutch couple who transformed it into accommodation for those seeking a holiday in a beautiful setting.
